Knights, crusaders or troubadours, the lords of Balazuc have made the village a fortified place from the late Middle Ages to the Religion Wars, it includes a castle, a square tower, the fortified roman church.Balazuc is a typical medieval place with an intricate maze of winding alleys, vaulted alleyways, stairs carved in rock. Outside the village, the Royal alley leads you to the Ardèche river, and beyond the bridge, to the hamlet of Vieil Audon.
